Do you love…
Say no more! I’ve been scouring one of my favourite places on the web, Etsy, for super happy fun items that tick all three of those boxes. I know what you’re thinking, “what’s this got to do with happy, healthy pets?” or maybe you’re thinking “I like peanut butter sandwiches,” or “oops, that wasn’t a fart”. The latter two I can’t help you with, but I can address your first question.
Firstly, I love supporting animal charities, and you probably do too if you’re here reading my stuff.
Secondly, who doesn’t love to dabble in a little online shopping and receive exciting parcels on their doorstep?
And thirdly, in full disclosure, some of the links you will find in this article are affiliate links. This means, at no cost whatsoever to you, if you click one of these links and purchase something from anywhere on Etsy, I will receive a small commision. Thanks for your support dudes!
1. VW Beetle Pet Bed
If you don’t think this is cute, you have a cold, dead heart of stone. Handmade by Whiscraft, this is the “only car in the world in which your pet can drive, with lifetime guarantee that our VW beetle will zoom your pet chasing the Zs and crash into dreamland.” This description kind of makes me want to sleep in one myself, although I’d probably rather carefully parallel park in dreamland than crash, but what the heck – YOLO!
The beautiful items in this shop are handmade from unsold or excess product from textile mills and unused portions from garment manufacturers. ALL profits go to Whiskers’ Syndicate, a sanctuary that saves abused, neglected and stray animals in Bandung, Indonesia.
2. Green Dinosaur Dog Collar
This super cute, handmade dinosaur collar is one of many great designs available at Canine Design. From batman to frogs to fire engines to love hearts, there’s something for everyone. I just happen to have a penchant for creatures from the Cretaceous, but whatever floats your boat, you’ll find it here. Every month these guys support a different animal rescue to donate 10% of that month’s sales to.
3. Oak Doggie Bowl Stand
Although laineyspawtique mostly make gourmet dog cookies, we live a little too far away here in Australia to sample them. But, they also have this beautiful hand crafted oak bowl stand, which adds a bit of style to meal times! Your dog will feel like he’s dining in 5 star luxury at every meal. The downside is, he may complain to the manager if you don’t turn down his bed and leave a chocolate* on his pillow after becoming accustomed to such grandeur. 5% of all sales goes to a charity of the month, which is announced at the beginning of every month. This is in honor of shop owner Judy’s own furkids who have suffered cancer and diabetes.
*Do not, I repeat DO NOT, leave a chocolate on your dog’s pillow, no matter how nicely he asks.
4. Big Bad Wolf Collar
Fully adjustable and triple stitched for durability, The Mod Dog’s outrageously adorable dog collars come with a one year warranty. There are so many to choose from, I could fit my dogs out with an entire ‘collar wardrobe.’ Having a special soft spot for those devilishly handsome dogs that are Weimaraners, a percentage of all sales goes to owner Kyra’s local Weimaraner rescue in Atlanta.
5. Bunny Print
What’s up doc? This sweet portrait of a shelter bunny comes as a print signed by the artist, Dana. 10% of all sales at Inspired Pet Portraits goes to charity. The donation for this print will go straight to the animal shelter from which this little bunny was found (and at which Dana is a volunteer). There are also many other amazing prints available, including some cows and piggies that are so cute just looking at them might make you poop a rainbow.
6. Dog Bow Tie
Look. At. That. Face! I wanna smooch it so bad. So, is your pet invited to all the picnics and bbqs this year? Help them to look the part like this debonair gent with the appropriate attire. “OMGtotesadorable exists to help those people who give their time, money and lives to help take care of unwanted, sick and lonely animals.” These Canadians LOVE animals, and half of all shop proceeds go to a different animal charity every month. This month it is Zooh Corner rabbit rescue.
7. Happy Bunny Catnip Toy
At The Dots shop, there are loads and loads of really cute, handmade catnip toys. I particularly liked this vintagey looking one with it’s important life lesson that even bunnies in aprons must water their gardens to make them grow. If that’s not your bag, never fear, there is something to suit every taste. A portion of the proceeds from all catnip toys goes some of their various local animal charities, including The Acme Foundation, Cat Town, and Muttville Senior Dog Rescue.
8. Pink Bling Collar
Let your dog’s inner diva shine with this glamorous rhinestone collar from Wagologie. With many matching accessories available and sizes for big dogs as well as small, you can’t go wrong. Owner Lauren regularly donates collars to rescue and dog organizations all over the US.
9. Cat Pop Art
Ok, this shop is just amazing! ‘Paw Prints Project – tails from the pound’, was inspired by it’s owners’ volunteer work at their local animal shelter. “There are so many beautiful faces there – each with it’s own tale to tell”. 10% of every purchase is donated to the shelter. As well as prints of superbly gorgeous shelter animals, custom portraits of your own pet are also available in their vibrant, modern style.
10. Pet Get Well Bag – Personalized!
There is loads of cool pet stuff to be found at Sookiedog, but these little bags in particular caught my eye. They were first made and filled with treats for a dog belonging to a veterinarian and friend of the shop owner’s whose leg was amputated due to bone cancer. A very thoughtful gift I think!
